A bit nervous

I'm about to head off to my son's recital. The thing is, I'm playing a piano duet with him. Should be fine, we can almost do it with our eyes closed, but you never know.

I'll be back later to let you know how we went. (And I'm guessing an American might say "how we did" here?)

Sounds like good fun. My son and I accompanied an item at a large family birthday last year, and really enjoyed it. Though I always get stage fright when I actually have to do the performance, and panic that I've lost my place, which isn't so much fun. But I do enjoy practising with my son. What did you play?

I've played many times at churches and various events where people are singing, it is a little different when everyone is just sitting there looking at you, waiting for you to entertain them!
We played "Rhythm and Boogie" by Jane Smisor Bastien. It went pretty well.

Glad to hear it went well.

I was just popping in to see your update as well. Glad you survived :)
The title of your song sounds familiar too. The Bastiens have been around for a long time, I think...

I'm glad it went well, too. It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate at the moment.

I don't mind playing for congregational singing (especially since the churches where I have done it were very small and extremely grateful for any music!), since I don't consider that to be "performance" - I see myself more as just one of the congregation, but when everyone's just listening - I don't think it's my thing at all. So I think you're much braver than I am!

And yes, the Bastien name is very familiar, but I don't think any of my boys played that piece. It sounded like it would have been fun though.
